Movie and TV fans everywhere are thankful for being able to bear witness to outstanding work by many of today's great actors and actresses. From the seemingly infallible Meryl Streep to the dramatic transformations of Daniel Day Lewis, these artists have made this a special era of film and TV.
But when we acknowledge the actors of today, we must also include a nod to the legacies they follow. With this in mind, PrettyFamous, an entertainment data site by Graphiq, compiled a list of the most famous dead actors.
In order to judge an actor's relative popularity, PrettyFamous compiled an Actor Score for each contender. The score takes into account the number of awards an actor was nominated for, the amount of views their Wikipedia page has had over the last 30 days, and the IMDb votes of the TV shows and movies they had appeared in. In the case of a tie, the actor who won more awards was favored. After that, the younger actor was ranked higher.
Note: Actors who have died recently are more likely to have more Wikipedia page views, to have won more awards (as there are more award shows today than before), and to have starred in movies/TV shows wit
h more IMDb votes. Therefore, this methodology is skewed towards actors who have died recently, or those whose fame have withstood the test of time.
